Killing Us Microsoftly

First there was plastic,
Many thought fantastic.
It wasn't too exciting
Nor its look inviting.

What did plastic do for us?
A more versatile spoon;
Now we have enough garbage
To ship to the moon.

What did plastic do to us?
Many agree it's bad;
The problem is, industry
Turning utility, into fad.

Apart from its many uses
There's a million and one abuses
On top of industry excuses -
Mainstream media silence,
Is tantamount to violence.
Maintaining the status quo
Is like a city,
With everyone named Joe.
If you find the reality too drastic,
What do you think of people;
Who wrap themselves in plastic?

Coming on the scene
Is something called graphene,
Like coffee with caffeine.
Pencil lead graphite
Impermeable and light
Keeping it real;
It's stronger than U.S. steel.
The new wonder stuff,
Like a diamond in the rough;
Dare I say tough!

Graphene atomic view
A conductor of heat
And electricity both,
Marketers of graphene,
Swear it, like an oath.
It's thin, its transparent
Now that plastic's become aberrant
It would seem graphene
Is the lauded heir apparent.

Hold on a minute,
Not so fast.
Researchers say
Our water filtration, will let it get passed
It will cut our innards, like swallowing glass.
Finding its way,
Into the food we eat
Get absorbed by plants,
Like the carrot and the beet.

Graphene particles
Can be minute like nano
Take us out quick,
Like Tony Soprano;
Get them on murder one,
"Book em Danno"
We'll be dead
Left in the ditch
In the end
Industry'll still be rich.
