DecarbonizeNation

What is decarbonization,
Some kind of soft drink filtration?
German chancellor Angela Merkel
 at the G7 with British Prime Minister
 David Cameron, left,
and Prime Minister Stephen Harper,
centre. “It’s pretty clear that Canada
 and Japan are in a different place
 than the rest of the G7 on the
issue of climate change,”
said Jennifer Morgan of
the Washington, D.C.-based
World Resources Institute.
To take the fizziness out of pop
Enough tomfoolery, won't you stop!
Americans don't call it pop,
Nor consider our planet, while they shop!
A bountiful harvest, was once a crop!
Until abundance, began to drop!
Decarbonization of emissions
Reveal government indecision

New York tried to ban the super-sized soda
The plan fizzled out like flat Coca Cola
Soda makes us wrinkly, like Jedi Master Yoda
Got our parents looking like Abe Vigoda
Watching re-runs of Barney Miller and Rhoda!

The war over our bellies, already waged;
The slimmer, leaner you
As unattainable, as it was staged
Expand the waistline,
And the stakeholder wage;
Public subsidy, in a corporate age

How will we save our planet,
When there's needless suffering, gosh dammit?
Japan's Prime Minister Shinzo Abe

Britain's Prime Minister David Cameron

Schloss Elmau near Garmisch-Partenkirchen,
Germany.(Carl Court/Getty Images)
We're putting donuts before the carrot
Or the cart before the horse;
Lift people out of poverty, first, of course!

Oh to be homeless on a clean planet
Is like a mattress, made out of granite
Comfort for the few
Is too old to be new
The people must be the ones to plan it!

But on the other hand;
Someone's gotta take a stand!
With all take and no give,
How do we expect to live?

The indigenous said it all along,
Replenishing;
Keeps Mother Earth strong.
Otherwise, en masse;
Like the pesky bed bug, we just harass,
Leeching the Earth's resources like drugs
Siphoning off of our life's blood
 Bacteria may be all that lives on,
Long after we're dead and gone!

Let the chips fall where they may
By the mid-term of the century
we should come to a point where
economic growth can work
without the emission of carbon-
Werner Wnendt, Germany's
ambassador to Canada
Is what the actions of the 1% say
We've heard the sanctimonious stories
Of extravagant, moneyed glories
The behind the scenes, wealthy cravens
With their apocalyptic, underground havens;
Waiting for humanity to end;
Waiting for the herd to be thinned

There's nothing free about free enterprise
To free thinkers, it comes as no surprise
That big corporations are subsidized
Public funds somehow materialized

Poverty's linked to climate change
No meaningful discussion seems kind of strange
The G7 Summit decreed 85 years
So future generations, can shoulder our fears;
Of zero emissions, for our dire conditions
To tax the unwitting into submission!

Canada and Japan said no to 2050
We're one environmental disaster away
From making our children, pay, pay, pay
In 2015 it's all about me, me, me
What does Mother Earth Say Say Say?
We'll just have to wait and see, see, see!

85 years is equal to two American lifetimes
With their shorter life expectancy,
And endless wars and crimes;
Just Say No to Democrat and Republican Party grime
American voters, now's about time!

Fully fossil fuel free,
Say that one fast, times three
But the year Twenty One Hundred
Is far too many a year for one dread
Getting re-elected is power too plenty severe for ones head;
A nation of these would be a
relatively small step to reaching
Canada's emissions
reductions targets.
(Jenna Reid/CBC)

That's how our PM's G7 message read
After he would've long shuffled off
From his mortal coil bed
Does a climate change naysayer who won't be here,
In decarbonization's 85th year;
Expect us to believe that he truly does care?

"the oil is a heavy

 one that is, according
to award-winning author
 Andrew Nikiforuk,
so thick it’s like sucking
cold maple syrup
out of a straw.
 Nikiforuk calls it
 “dirty oil”
due to the fact that the
 heavy oil takes a lot
 of resources
 to produce and when
 burned it emits more
 CO2emissions than
lightweight oil"

Nice day for a swim
Near Likely, B.C.,
A tailings pond, on a whim
Go work your abs at the gym!
While they kill our country,
Have a skinny latte, to keep yourself slim
Lake Quesnel in Mount Polly was filled to the brim
With toxins like copper, and selenium
Heavy metal, not like Metallica's Sanitarium
For Canada, the beautiful, don't go out on a limb
While politicians destroy
The birthright of our children

I hear you cutting lumber
Sawing logs are a cumber
Not a jam in high number

Sorry this just in, we don't have a home
Only because we wanted it cushy like foam
Capitalism meant as an experiment or a stepping stone
Not a means to obliterate our ecological dome
Now Canada is no more like Ancient Rome

In the meantime stay fast asleep
Avoid real issues through 60 hour work weeks
Only to find you're no further ahead
In no time we're all buried and dead
Realize you sacrificed family for things
You sacrificed real treasures
And what the earth brings
You let them destroy our sacred land
So the economic agenda could go as planned
But we don't reap the rewards,
Because we all got scammed!

The Best Scam ( perpetrated on woman, child and man)

Here take a drink
Psych,
You're about to spring a leak
Stick your finger in the dike,
Not the kind your gf lykes
The holds back water type;
Water they sell you to drink,
Tell em,
Go take a hike!

You know the bottled kind
Nestle, Desani, Aquafina,
A scam, on humankind;
They're laughing at us,
Like the hyena
All the way to the bank,
In their profitable,
Unregulated, arena!

Evian makes you naive
Do you or don't you think?
Canadian water we buy,
The kind that's found in your sink
Or in Ontario's watershed springs;
Hillsburgh and Aberfoyle
The stuff's more expensive
Than Canada's dirty oil.

Government allows corporations
To trap our natural resources
Then sell it back to us
They lead us like horses
To water
Then make us drink,
What'll be left for our kids?
For once get pissed off!
Or for yourself think!

Bottled water is no safer than tap
Wake up from your slumber
Your perpetual nap,
The bottled water industry
Nestle, Coca Cola and Pepsi
Skate off with the profits,
Faster than Gretzky.

But wait there's more
Government gave them
Our keys to the store
It's not just bottled water
It's soft drinks, galore
They consume our finite resources
Like a money hungry whore.

Water siphoning Nestle
Sells it back to us for pay
To the ripe old tune
Of a million liters per day
Until 2017,
Queens Park and Ottawa,
Will look the other way.
What do corporations have on these guys anyway?
Obviously they got some sway!

Non renewable plastic bottles
Into landfills do go
And the water to make them,
Like a river does flow
At the ballot box,
Politicians should know;
They're working for us!
Onto them,
Canada,
We do not bestow.

Killing Us Microsoftly

First there was plastic,
Many thought fantastic.
It wasn't too exciting
Nor its look inviting.

What did plastic do for us?
A more versatile spoon;
Now we have enough garbage
To ship to the moon.

What did plastic do to us?
Many agree it's bad;
The problem is, industry
Turning utility, into fad.

Apart from its many uses
There's a million and one abuses
On top of industry excuses -
Mainstream media silence,
Is tantamount to violence.
Maintaining the status quo
Is like a city,
With everyone named Joe.
If you find the reality too drastic,
What do you think of people;
Who wrap themselves in plastic?

Coming on the scene
Is something called graphene,
Like coffee with caffeine.
Pencil lead graphite
Impermeable and light
Keeping it real;
It's stronger than U.S. steel.
The new wonder stuff,
Like a diamond in the rough;
Dare I say tough!

Graphene atomic view
A conductor of heat
And electricity both,
Marketers of graphene,
Swear it, like an oath.
It's thin, its transparent
Now that plastic's become aberrant
It would seem graphene
Is the lauded heir apparent.

Hold on a minute,
Not so fast.
Researchers say
Our water filtration, will let it get passed
It will cut our innards, like swallowing glass.
Finding its way,
Into the food we eat
Get absorbed by plants,
Like the carrot and the beet.

Graphene particles
Can be minute like nano
Take us out quick,
Like Tony Soprano;
Get them on murder one,
"Book em Danno"
We'll be dead
Left in the ditch
In the end
Industry'll still be rich.

Chewing (out) The Fat(so)

Obesity's on the rise
Experts say;
And the finger of blame
Is pointed your way.

Diabetes, also on the rise,
Really should come
As no surprise;
When every meal
Is super-sized,
And the weight migrates,
Right to your thighs.

Follow what the experts say,
Staying active,
Is the only way.
The upper class benefit from it;
One requires means, just to stay fit.
Education failed the poor,
You get a gym class
And nothing more,
Than a fat ass;
Buying groceries,
At your, local convenience store.

Wait a minute!
Fat, skinny or whatever
There is something,
We can all do together!
Place the blame,
Where blame is due,
Keeping in mind,
Blame's no good for you.

We live in a society
Where food comes prepared;
 Media says, if only you compared,
The calories on this label or on that
Then just maybe, you wouldn't be fat!
 But they let industry off the hook,
Because its industry money that they took!

If Health Canada really cared,
We'd have basic ingredients,
Toxic additives would not be spared;
And hidden items would all be bared.
Nobody's talking about the push for
Preservative market shares,
Nobody's trying to expose,
food mogul fortune heirs;
Instead the public becomes, the big fat target
While industry poisons your
Supermarket.

If the lame duck FDA
So much as dared,
Strict regulation and enforcement;
Instead of food industry endorsement;
All these years, such a lack of standard,
By the very ones, to whom they've pandered;
While fat people,
Like minorities are slandered;
Then maybe we wouldn't see
Such egregious manipulation
Of the big three!

Sugar, Salt and Fat,
Taken together,
Hit you like crack.
Yet Medical experts
Seem to pull back;
The food industry
Are aware of these facts,
And is glad to exploit you,
Like the Big Mac.

The big three,
May be under a different name,
In a multiple dose,
But it's all the same.
Sugar can be glucose/fructose
Or even dextrose,
Artificial sweetener
Can be aspartame or sucralose.
Fats can be labeled hydrogenated oil;
Clog your arteries and your heart will spoil.
Salt can be:
Autolyzed / hydrolyzed - plant protein
Or natural flavor; flowing from the MSG gene.
These ingredients are unnatural as can be,
And rearrange our brain chemistry!

Let's say you had a down day,
Would you fancy an apple
Over a vanilla latte?
Chances are,
The answer is no.
Because processed food
Will give you a turbo,
Boost like a meal;
No fruit or veggie
Has such quick appeal!

It's not physical activity
That only has to change,
The pathways in our brains
Must rearrange.
Addiction uses visual fuel,
So our brain plays our body for a fool.
Fruits and veggies
Need the advertising tool,
So a healthy trap will ensnare;
Otherwise a salad just won't  compare.
To the all pervasive, fat laden,
Salty, sugary fare.

The big 3 three ingredients
 In their basic form
Can be the spice of life,
When not derived from corn.

The Schism

The environmental schism
It's much like a prism
We come to see the light
Refracted in plain sight.

The schism - the disconnect
Is the earth, body, mind connection incorrect?
Some would have you believe
Climate change science is here to deceive.

Don't confuse political aspiration,
With climate science refutation,
Your intolerance will turn into exasperation.
Science is: skillful observation;
That is all!
Political manipulation had the gall,
To toss about the political football,
Something historians like to call
"The Night of the Long Knives"
How the Tories paved the way for their 2011 reprise.

Consider how health care, medicine
Was sold by government, to the big pharma profession;
Doctors have less integrity; was our first impression
In trading the Hippocratic Oath,
For material possession.

Cancer fundraising is booming business!
Only cancer rates have incredible fitness!
Cancer researchers clam up, like Samuel in Witness
Instead of putting food and chemical manufacturers on their hit list
Have you added food and chemical manufacturers to your shit list?

Maybe the Canadian Cancer Society can spare some of their donated wealth
Not to boost fundraising efforts -
But to boost public health!
Treatment and health are not one in the same
Treatment is passive pain;
Maintaining optimum health is active gain.

With all their money the CCS could be activists in the front line;
Exposing government and business for their environmental crime!
Canadian kids are the latest test subjects for chemicals in food
Land, air and sea!
We're all getting screwed!
